Creating and Protecting Jobs
Mike understands that Michigan’s economy is struggling and he is fighting to protect jobs we already have and to create new, good-paying jobs. As a former small business owner, he knows that Michigan workers can outwork and outhustle the competition when the playing field is level. That’s why he’s leading the fight to crack down on unfair Chinese trade practices that steal American jobs – including his legislation to double the number of “trade enforcement cops” the U.S. has to stop China and other nations from cheating.
Mike’s jobs plan also includes American energy independence by 2015, that would create over one million jobs and help America’s auto industry build the next generation of cars that don’t need gasoline.

Lowering Energy Prices
The high cost of energy is forcing many Michigan families and businesses to cut back. That’s why Mike believes it’s time to fight back by drilling for American oil here at home, building 30 new nuclear power plants, helping the Big 3 build the next generation of cars that don’t need gasoline, and encouraging the use of wind and solar power. Mike believes we need an “all of the above” energy policy in America.

Reducing Health Care Costs
Mike is working hard to reduce the burden of health care costs on seniors, families and small businesses. He believes that empowering people to make their own health care choices is the key to reaching the goal of quality, affordable, accessible care. This commitment is reflected in his bill to promote Health Information Technology that saves money and saves lives by reducing medical errors and in his efforts to provide more families and employers access to Health Savings Accounts.

Strengthening National Security
As a former Army officer and FBI Special Agent, Mike brings a unique perspective and unmatched experience to the Congress. That’s why he won a spot on the Intelligence Committee, why Congressional leaders turned to Mike for his expertise in responding to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and why he has been sent to the Middle East and Southwest Asia more than 15 times. To protect our borders, Mike opposes amnesty and believes we must deploy more border patrol agents, hard fencing and virtual fencing.
