Convert Coal into Jet Fuel
Mike’s plan will direct the federal government to use coal to liquid fuel (made from American coal) to power its military planes.

Mike’s plan will also extend tax incentives for consumers to continue to purchase energy efficient commercial buildings, homes, and appliances.

Encourage Americans to Replace Old Cars
Congressman Mike Rogers wants to encourage Americans to take their old, gas-guzzling cars off the road and start driving new, fuel efficient ones. As an incentive, his American Energy Independence Plan will create a $1,500 tax credit for Americans who purchase a new, cleaner vehicle creating auto jobs in Michigan.

Upgrade Outdated Computer Systems
Many businesses run large computer servers that use a lot of electricity. Mike’s American Energy Independence Plan will give businesses a tax credit for up to 20% of the cost to buy new energy efficient computer servers.

Expand Tax Incentives for Purchasing Energy Efficient Windows
Homeowners are only able to use $200 in tax credits to install energy efficient windows in their homes under current law. Mike’s plan would increase the amount to $500.
Alleviating Traffic Congestion
You may not think about it when you’re sitting in a traffic jam on your way to work, but stop-and-go driving causes your car to waste gas. Mike’s plan would give each state the freedom to use federal funds on road projects designed to decrease traffic congestion. This plan will reduce traffic congestion by at least 10%.
